Lead Poisoning is Still a Public Health Concern- Department of Health Press Release 10/28/2011
“Nearly a quarter of a million children living in the United States have blood lead levels high enough to cause significant damage to their health,” said Commissioner of Health Michael C. Caldwell, MD, MPH. “All children need to have a blood lead test at both one year and two years of age. Major sources of lead exposure include lead-based paint chips and lead-contaminated dust found in deteriorating buildings.”
